Our mission is to end childhood hunger by delivering free healthy meals to the doorsteps of Houston’s hungriest preschool-aged children and through collaboration provide their families with resources to help end the cycle of poverty.  Kids’ Meals is a first-responder to children ages five-years old and under facing debilitating hunger due to extreme poverty. Every weekday, year-round, from 9 a.m. to noon, volunteers prepare thousands of healthy lunches consisting of a sandwich, nutritious snack and 100% juice or milk.  Our six vans deliver the meals M-F to children enrolled in our program.  We currently serve six Houston-area routes that target zip codes all located within Beltway 8, where the need is critical.

What we achieved in 2016

647,461 nutritious meals were delivered to hungry children in Houston.

1,500 bags of groceries were distributed at both Thanksgiving and Christmas

1,200 turkeys were distributed at Thanksgiving

Over 5,000 toys were distributed at Christmas

Expanded our SouthWest route by adding two additional zip codes to our delivery route (77036 & 77074)

Over 7,000 volunteers contributed to the efforts of ending childhood hunger in Houston.

Over 500,000 pounds of additional food was given out to the families throughout the year.

In addition to five nutritious weekly meals, we also provide our children with resources such as: free books quarterly, Thanksgiving turkeys, a holiday party with a toy distribution, and information on critical community resources to assist families in accessing help for other issues they are facing due to extreme poverty. We also like to think we deliver one more thing: hope.

With your help, lunch bag by lunch bag, we believe we can reach our goal of ending hunger among preschool-aged children in Houston.
